Dane County Judge Susan Crawford unexpectedly cruised to victory Tuesday in her race against Waukesha County Judge Brad Schimel for the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Crawford’s victory gives liberals control of the state’s high court for the next three years, when it is considering such issues as abortion, union rights and more. It was the most expensive judicial election in U.S. history.

Ten Wisconsin counties that voted for Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election flipped for Crawford in 2025 in a race widely seen as a referendum on Trump’s first two months in office.

Wisconsin had record high voter turnout for the 2024 November presidential election, with 3.4 million people voting. Turnout for the April 1 election won’t be known until several days after Election Day, but unofficial results show that 2.3 million people voted for Supreme Court.

Here’s a list of the counties that flipped from Trump to Crawford.
