Is billionaire donor Elon Musk now in charge?
The presidential election of 2024 is over and my preferred candidate lost. So, what do I plan on doing? No, I’m not going to break into the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2025. I assume by that date the Republicans will have chosen a new house speaker acceptable to Elon Musk and the new House of Representatives can then be sworn in in order to permit certifying the Electoral College vote.
Unfortunately, Elon didn’t approve of the bipartisan agreement to keep the government open in order for Congress to function. Hopefully, U.S. bills will be paid, Social Security checks will be sent out, Medicare will still function, and government employees, defense contractors and armed service personnel will continue to be paid. Our incoming elected president apparently didn’t check with Elon, and didn’t realize that he didn’t like the bipartisan agreement until Elon straightened him out. MAGA Republican representatives and President-elect Trump must learn to check with Elon before making any future decisions.
Musk spent $277 million on President-elect Trump’s election and has therefore earned the right to be consulted on all future presidential and congressional actions, including the right to determine his own personal tax rates, his own U.S. defense contracts, and possibly future cabinet picks.
I just didn’t realize that the 2024 election was about allowing Musk and other Republican billionaire donors to make decisions that were formerly made by the president and Congress. Maybe, if Musk permits future elections, ordinary citizens will again choose people who will vote for their interests.

USPS does a great job, even in the snow
I just wanted to reach out and comment on the great job that U.S. Postal Service does every day for the community. Recently, the massive late November snowstorm held up delivery of the mail and packages, but I hope people will take into consideration the weather and show some appreciation for the great job all postal employees are did amid that snow. Having carried mail in the past, I can only say how hard these carriers, clerks, drivers, and more work every day.
If anything, during such snowstorms, maybe we should all reflect on these essential workers with a debt of gratitude.
