Election Day 2024 has come and gone as the dust settles in the battle between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris for President of the United States.

Indiana was one of several states to back Trump as their candidate of choice in election results, who ultimately received the 270 electoral votes required Tuesday night to secure the presidency. Another win for Republicans appears to be taking control of the U.S. Senate

One question remains. How long will it take to confirm the presidency?

Here’s what to know:.

Republican candidate former President Donald Trump

Former President Donald Trump, 78, is a Republican who previously won the presidency in the 2016 election against Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton even though he had no prior elected political experience.

Trump ran for reelection in 2020 but lost to current President Joe Biden.

His campaign slogan was “Make America Great Again!” or MAGA, for short.

Grover Cleveland was the last President of the United States to lose a reelection bid only to win next election in 1892.

Democratic candidate Vice President Kamala Harris

Vice President Kamala Harris, 60, is a Democrat and the vice president to current President Joe Biden, who was elected in 2020.

Harris has a lengthy political history. In 2004 Harris was elected the District Attorney of San Francisco, in 2010 she was elected as attorney general of California and in 2017 she was sworn into the United States Senate.

Her campaign had a few slogans including “Let’s win this,” “When we fight, we win,” and “We’re not going back.”

Donald Trump received 10 electoral votes when it was determined he defeated Kamala Harris in Wisconsin, which flipped a key Midwestern “blue wall” state back to red. The state was previously won by President Joe Biden in 2020. The Wisconsin win pushed Trump over the 270 electoral votes needed to win a presidential election.
