WASHINGTON — As long as Cam Schlittler gets through Saturday’s start healthy — and finally gets the Yankees’ blessing — the ball will be in John Schneider’s hands, to give it to the Yankees ace on Tuesday at Citizens Bank Park.

With one outing left before the All-Star break, Schlittler has put himself in a strong position to start the Midsummer Classic for the American League.

That decision will be up to Schneider, the Blue Jays manager who is managing the AL team, given that the Yankees are OK with Schlittler pitching an inning on what would essentially be his between-starts bullpen day.

“He’s been brilliant,” Gerrit Cole said. “I think he’s been great. Very consistent throughout and never satisfied.”
