If you give Amy Slaton the mic, prepare to get some opinions from Tammy Slaton.

In Us’ exclusive sneak peek of the Tuesday, October 27, episode of TLC’s 1000-Lb. Sisters, Amy, 38, heads to the studio to record one of her new songs.

“Off a highway, one tucked in the pines, we’re leaving the city and the stress behind / Load the Chevy up, grab the inner tubes,” she sings. “I got the country rap flow and the lakeside view / Sand between our toes and the freshwater breeze where the cell phone towers can’t quite reach.”

Her initial voice quickly grabs the attention of people in the studio, including her own sister.

“The very first take in the studio, I thought she was good,” Tammy, 40, says in a confessional interview. “Her voice was a little rough. It was crackly. She was so nervous.”

After a little laugh, it appears Tammy is trying her best to keep it nice.

Benny, who serves as a vocal coach, chimes in to share his take on what he’s hearing.

“Amy’s voice is like nothing I’ve ever worked with before,” he says. “It kind of hits you like this big flood. This is going to be an uphill battle for Amy. But once she learns to sing more in tune and tame that accent just enough so people totally understand what she’s saying, people are going to connect to that more.”

In this season of 1000-Lb. Sisters, viewers have watched Amy focus on creating the life she’s always dreamed of.

As she continues to lose weight, pursue skin-removal surgery and learn how to drive, she’s discovering a passion for songwriting and transforming her poetry into original songs with the help of AI.

“Hearing that she has written this AI-generated song doesn’t give me any confidence in her level of talent,” Nashville music industry consultant Clay Myers shared in a previous episode. “Sometimes these AI versions don’t always reflect creativity.”

With feedback like that, perhaps it’s understandable why Amy has been nervous to showcase her new passion with the world.

“It’s really hard to have other people hear my song, especially my siblings,” she said in a recent episode. “I just want them to like the damn song. That song was written for the family, not just for me. Yeah, it’s my song, but it’s more like a family song.”

1000-Lb. Sisters airs on TLC Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET.
