Virginia baseball player Ethan Anderson donated $10,000 of name, image, and likeness earnings to the Navy SEAL Foundation this past week during the ADS Expo at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.
Supporting the foundation means a lot to Anderson and his family.
Anderson’s father, J.R., spent 27 years as a Navy SEAL before retiring in 2019. During his father’s deployments, Anderson’s family got a helping hand from the Navy SEAL Foundation, a privately funded charitable organization that supports naval special warfare families.
The foundation provided opportunities for the Anderson children to attend summer camps and offered tutors, babysitters and college scholarships. Anderson came away with a deep appreciation for the help his family received from the foundation during his father’s deployments and decided he would give back during his time with the Virginia baseball program.

Virginia baseball player Ethan Anderson donated $10,000 of his NIL earnings to the Navy SEAL Foundation.
“I am grateful and honored to have the opportunity to partner with the @NavySEALFoundation,” the message reads. “While I am attending @UVA, I will be donating 100 percent of my NIL earnings to this amazing foundation that helped me and my family when my father was serving our country overseas.”
Anderson, who started all 63 games for the Cavaliers this season and helped them reach the College World Series this past season, has made good on his word.
“The Navy SEAL foundation has always been good to me and my family, supporting us in life,” Anderson told the Richmond Times-Dispatch last season. “I wanted to donate something back to the foundation and get some publicity for how helpful they are to families.”
