Buskirk-Chumley Theater usher orientation and training

Come join the upcoming information session about volunteering at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater (BCT)! The next orientation/training is on Tuesday, Sept. 24, from 6 to 7:15 p.m. at the BCT at 114 E. Kirkwood Ave. Volunteer ushers are responsible for making each event at the theater a success. Volunteers welcome and direct guests, take tickets, help patrons find their seats, hand out programs and help to make the event run smoothly. Ushering at the BCT is a great way to get involved in arts and entertainment in Bloomington. Interested ushers need to be 16 years or older, be able to stand for a length of time, and quickly move around the theater. Great Glass Pumpkin Patch

Join Bloomington’s preeminent fall art experience on Oct. 12 between 7:15 a.m. and 4 p.m. on the Monroe County Courthouse lawn (100 W. Kirkwood Ave.). This event will have over 1,000 blown glass pumpkins spread out on the lawn for the community to come buy. Volunteers 13 years and up are needed to help with set up, unwrapping pumpkins, sales, wrapping pumpkins, customer relations and more. Interested volunteers must register by Sept. 25. Area 10 Agency Wish List

Area 10 Agency on Aging’s mission is to serve as a leader in providing resources, solutions and connections for seniors, persons with disabilities, and family caregivers living in Monroe and Owen counties. Area 10 serves as the Aging and Disability Resource Center for Monroe and Owen counties. It provides various supportive services, including home-delivered meals, public transportation, a mobile food pantry, congregate meal sites, care management, the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP), an adult guardianship program, and a community center in the Endwright Center. Donations to their wish list support seniors, persons with disabilities and family caregivers.
