The Skylar Thompson era begins today when the Miami Dolphins head west to face the Seattle Seahawks.

Thompson will be the Dolphins’ starting quarterback while Tua Tagovailoa recovers from a concussion he suffered during the 31-10 loss last Thursday to the Buffalo Bills. The third-year QB from Kansas State started three games, including one in the playoffs, in 2022 and has a career .571 completion percentage with one touchdown and three interceptions. Coach Mike McDaniel still has the rest of his offensive playmakers, but how will Tyreek Hill and De’Von Achane run with a backup QB?

The Seahawks aren’t the best team to test the new offense against. First-year coach Mike Macdonald has Seattle off to a 2-0 start with a strong defense. Quarterback Geno Smith will have receivers DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, but running back Kenneth Walker II is doubtful with an oblique injury.
