ASHEVILLE – Local restaurants, breweries and other businesses with the ability are offering resources to community members and relief organizations in the Asheville area on Sept. 30.

Here’s how they’re helping:

World Central Kitchen

The global disaster relief organization, is distributing hot meals and water beginning at noon on Sept. 30 from Bear’s Smokehouse, 135 Coxe Ave. in the downtown South Slope district. The limit is one meal per person.

Local restaurants assisting WCK with commercial kitchens for food and distribution preparation and ingredient donations include Cúrate, Chai Pani Restaurant Group, Bear’s Smokehouse, Mission Pizza and Good Hot Fish.

Equal Plates Project/Firestorm

The local nonprofit that addresses food insecurity, is providing prepared meals to its Healthy Opportunity Pilot and Medicaid residents, distributing through community partners including Poder Emma. Director Madi Holtzman said local farm partners have provided ingredients and water.

As of the morning of Sept. 30, the organization planned to donate food for distribution at Firestorm Bookstore.

Firestorm is operating as a food and supplies drop-off and distribution location for community members at 1022 Haywood Road in West Asheville.

More places to get meals/food

Asheville Poverty Initiative’s 12 Baskets Cafe is serving food to the community beginning at 10 a.m. on Sept. 30. Donations are welcome including paper plates, disposable utensils, water, bread and “other kind of easy-to-serve foods.”

Rosetta’s Kitchen & The Buchi Bar will begin soup kitchen operations and donation-based meal distribution at Noon on Sept. 30 at 68 North Lexington Ave. downtown.

Flour began distributing free biscuits, other baked goods and hot coffee to the public on the morning of Sept. 30 and will continue until supplies last at S&W Market, at 56 Patton Ave., downtown.

Terra Nova Beer Co. is offering free water fill-ups until supplies last at 101 South Lexington Ave. in the South Slope brewing district. Individuals must bring containers. A water spout is outside of the building for self-fills. Electrical outlets are available on the brewery’s patio for recharging electronic devices.

Itto Ramen will distribute free food from 2:30 p.m. until supplies last at its West Asheville restaurant, 630 Haywood Road. The downtown location is closed.

Mission Pizza, the taproom food partner, is no longer distributing food to the public; ingredients are being donated to World Central Kitchen.

West Village Market is open with limited hours selling groceries, such as produce, meat and vegan and nondairy items at 771 Haywood Road. Cash, card and EBT are accepted.

Walls Wine Bar is open and selling beer, wine, vegan cheese and chocolate at its art gallery and wine bar at 38 Broadway St. downtown. Cash only.
