Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich is taking over as the Jets’ interim coach following Robert Saleh’s stunning firing after just five games, according to NFL Network.

Ulbrich joined the Jets in 2021 when Saleh took over as the team’s head coach, and the Jets’ defense was has been among the strongest in the league despite a 20-36 record in the Saleh era.

The 47-year-old played 10 seasons in the NFL with the 49ers from 2000-09 after being selected in the third round by San Francisco.

His first game as head coach will come in a prime-time “Monday Night Football” showdown against the Bills at MetLife Stadium with first place in the AFC East up for grabs.
