The last time Cleveland played the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series was 1998.

Cleveland took a 2-1 lead in that series, but ultimately fell 4-2 to the eventual World Series champions. Like 1998, the first two games of this series will take place at Yankee Stadium.

Could the outcome be different? The Yankees finished the regular season 94-68, the best record in the American League. The Guardians countered with a 92-69 regular-season record, the second best in the AL.

New York got to the ALCS by eliminating the Kansas City Royals 3-1 last Thursday. That will give the Yankees the rest advantage over the Guardians, who finished off the Detroit Tigers in five games on Saturday.
