Accurate, durable and performance driven, Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak Offshore timepieces are ready for any adventure — from land to sea to sky.
Recently, the brand added three new iterations to the ever-popular collection, which incorporate state-of-the-art materials in eye-catching color combinations.
But their beauty is not just skin-deep; each of the new watches also boasts a sapphire-crystal caseback, allowing for a full view of its hand-finished mechanical movement.
They’re fitting additions to the Royal Oak collection, which has been a mainstay since it was introduced in 1972. The watch’s original design was conceived and drawn in a single night by famed Swiss watchmaker and artist Gérald Genta.
Executives at Audemars Piguet, which has been family-owned since its founding in 1875, took the bold step of crafting the timepiece in stainless steel, a metal rarely seen in the luxury-watch category.
Its octagonal bezel (punctuated by eight screws) and stainless-steel link bracelet were also groundbreaking, causing quite the stir at the 1972 Swiss Watch Show in Basel.
In the ensuing half-century, the collection has reached icon status.
This latest crop of Royal Oaks builds upon that extraordinary legacy, with three new watches in 37 and 43 mm sizes that are sure to catch the eye of Audemars Piguet aficionados.
The new 37 mm Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding watch is “made for smaller wrists,” according to the brand. Its pink-gold case is protected by a gray rubber-coated bezel with a matching mosaic-patterned rubber strap. It’s equipped with Audemars Piguet’s latest automatic movement, the Calibre 5900.
The 43 mm Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding watch, meanwhile, is now available in stainless steel with a blue rubber-coated bezel and matching rubber strap. It’s equipped with the brand’s patented Calibre 4302 movement, which provides precision and stability while setting the timepiece.
A stainless-steel Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Chronograph with an ombre smoked-bronze Méga Tapisserie dial rounds out the new offerings. It’s fitted with Audemars Piguet’s latest mechanical chronograph movement, the Calibre 4401, which can take several new time measurements consecutively without interrupting or resetting its timing mechanism. The color inspiration for the chronograph’s warm-brown dial and alligator strap is the “Habano,” referencing the hue of Cuban cigars.
Surrounding the dial, the watch’s tachymeter is printed on its black inner bezel. With water resistance up to 100 meters, it’s ready to go wherever your travels may take you.
As for where the Royal Oak may be headed next? While the privately owned brand will not divulge what the future holds, Audemars Piguet’s motto — “Seek beyond” — may provide a clue.
