JOHNSON COUNTY, IA — With just over a week before election day, the campaign stops are ramping up across Iowa.
Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks traveled to the Hills Solar Project in Johnson County Friday.
The Republican currently chairs the Conservative Climate Caucus in the House.
Miller-Meeks says Iowa is leading the way in transitioning to greener energy solutions.
“50% of Iowa’s energy is renewable, over 60% of our electricity is wind, and we’re a net exporter of energy,” Meeks said. “Most importantly, we’re meeting the increased energy demand that is only continuing to go up.”
Miller-Meeks is running for a third term in Congress and is being challenged for a second time by Christina Bohannan.
It’s a race that is considered a toss-up nationally and could decide control of the House.
