DES MOINES, Iowa — After losing more seats in the Iowa House, Democrats have again elected State Rep. Jennifer Konfrst of Windsor Heights to again serve as Iowa House Minority Lead in the 91st General Assembly set to start January 13th.
“While Tuesday’s election results were disappointing and there is a lot of uncertainty ahead, our caucus will never stop fighting for the values we share as Iowans. When the session begins in January, we’re going to work together on every issue we can to improve the lives of Iowans and put people over politics,” said Konfrst.
There are four new representatives-elect joining the Iowa House Democrats when session begins in January: Dan Gosa of Davenport, Rev. Rob Johnson of Des Moines, Larry McBurney of Urbandale, and Aime Wichtendahl of Hiawatha.
Rep. Konfrst is the first woman to lead the Iowa House Democrats and was elected to her 4th term in the Iowa House of Representatives. She is an associate professor at Drake University’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication. She worked at Iowa PBS for 12 years and has provided strategic communications counsel to nonprofit, state, and corporate organizations during her career. She lives in Windsor Heights with her husband, Lee. They have two adult children.
