The supposition entering the season was that GM Chris Drury would wait until trade deadline season to shore up his team as he has done the first three years of his tenure.
But this may not wait. Fissures are growing into cracks. The team that was ordained to reside in the NHL’s upper-class neighborhood would be designated as squatters if found in that locale. Something is off. And something may have to give before this spirals into something significant.
May I remind you that not one of Jacob Trouba, Chris Kreider, K’Andre Miller or Ryan Lindgren has a full no-move clause?
The fact that Tuesday’s 6-3 empty-net-abetted defeat to 15-1-0 Winnipeg at the Garden wasn’t really all that bad, and maybe even better than most over the last three weeks, should tell you all you need to know about the status of last season’s Presidents’ Trophy winners.
