At The Oregonian’s Readers Choice Awards, we’re all about comfort food right now. You’ve picked the best ramen and can vote for the best pho in the Portland area until Dec. 3, 2024. Next, we’re turning to another type of noodles: pasta.
When The Oregonian’s dining critic Michael Russell last ranked pasta in 2017, Renata topped the list, but it closed in 2022. Luckily, you can still enjoy a bowl of tagliatelle at Ava Gene’s, which was No. 2 on the list.
And you can’t go wrong at Cathy Whims’ Nostrana, where the pasta is made with patience, care and super-fresh ingredients.
Plenty of new choices have cropped up, too. Like Pastificio d’Oro in North Portland’s St. Johns neighborhood, which opened in 2022. Chef Chase Dopson makes the pasta entirely by hand using a mattarello (a long wooden rolling pin) instead of a machine to roll out the dough.
Where do you love to go for pasta in the Portland area?
Tell us all about your favorite and nominate it for our Readers Choice Awards below. The form will take submissions until 11 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2024. On Wednesday, Dec. 4, we’ll reveal the finalists and open voting at oregonlive.com/readers-choice.
