Kit Hoover is seeking out advice for her listeners on how to maintain a relationship with exes one week after Us Weekly confirmed that she and her husband, Crowley Sullivan, split.
“You’re best friends with all of your exes,” Hoover, 54, said to Elizabeth Hurley on the Wednesday, December 11, episode of “The Coop” podcast. “Isn’t Hugh Grant godfather to Damian?”
Hurley, 59, confirmed that Grant, whom she dated from 1987 to 2000, is godfather to son Damian. (Hurley welcomed Damian in 2002 with businessman Stephen Bing.)
“I’m great friends with Hugh. I’m great friends with Arun [Nayar]. My other two loves in my love are both dead,” Hurley explained. “So, there’s only two out of four left.”
After Hurley’s admission, Hoover asked her to share guidance for the listener. “How do you do that, though, Liz? For our listeners,” Hoover said. “How do you maintain that? I mean, it’s one thing to say it, but I know you really live it. Any nuggets you could share on that?”
Hurley noted that she considers all of her four past relationships to be “successful,” adding that she “really loved them and they were all my best friends when we were together.”
“Romantic friendships where you still care so much about someone, it’s not sexual, it’s romantic friendship still because you’re affectionate. There’s still romance that’s still there,” Hurley said. “I’m sure if they’d been bad guys, or bad, violent or awful person, of course we wouldn’t be friends. But that was never the case with any of the people I’ve been very close to. We just moved on in some ways, but the love was always there still.”
Hurley explained that she feels like her exes are family. “I wouldn’t know how to not have them in my life, in a way, because it would really be like not talking to my brother again,” she said. “Or a family member. I do feel like they’re family and still have all those same feelings that you have for family. Where you can be frustrated and pissed off with them, of course you can. But you’d also be incredibly protective over them.”
The episode was released one week after Us confirmed on December 4 that Hoover and Sullivan called it quits after more than two decades of marriage. “She’s been telling people she is single and getting divorced,” a source said.
Hoover appeared to not wear her wedding ring in recent months, nor post social media pics with Sullivan. The pair, who had been married since August 1999, share daughters Campbell, 22, and Hayes, 21, and son Crowley, 17.
