Iowa Senators Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) are working closely with the incoming Trump Administration, hoping to confirm nominees who will “drain the swamp.”

Ernst leads the Senate Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Caucus, while Grassley will chair the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Grassley is overseeing the confirmation of nominees within his committee’s jurisdiction, including Pam Bondi for Attorney General and Kash Patel for FBI Director.

Speaking on Wednesday, Grassley underscored the importance of the confirmation process and urged Iowans to be patient as they meet with nominees.

He pointed to Ernst’s multiple meetings with Pete Hegseth, Trump’s pick for Defense Secretary, as an example of a thorough vetting process.

Regarding current FBI Director Christopher Wray’s intended resignation, Grassley stated his departure is an opportunity for a new era of transparency and accountability at the FBI.

He also said he looks forward to holding a hearing for Patel once formally nominated.

On the upcoming 119th Congress, Sen. Grassley said, “Senator Ernst and I expect President Trump’s nominees to carry out the will of the electorate for a president-elect who is committed to draining the swamp…We are ready to work weekends until the job is done.”
