Amid their ongoing divorce, Jodie Turner-Smith filed a request to receive child and spousal support from Joshua Jackson .
In a new filing made on Monday with the Los Angeles County Superior Court, the 38-year-old British actress is requesting $8,543 per month in child support, $28,641 per month in spousal support, and other retroactive payments, USA Today reports . She is also seeking $250,000 to cover attorney fees and forensic accounting costs.
Turner-Smith, who originally filed for divorce from 46-year-old Jackson in Oct. 2023, originally waived spousal support but changed her stance over Jackson’s alleged refusal to “negotiate reasonable” payments in their proceedings.
She also accused Jackson of prolonging the process, making it difficult to support herself and their daughter Juno, born in April 2020.
“All I have asked for since the inception of this matter is to be allowed to maintain the strong relationship between Juno and me while managing a full-time work schedule to support our daughter and myself,” said Turner-Smith in the filing, per USA Today.
“Josh has run up my attorney’s fees and forensic accounting costs and has made this dissolution far more difficult than necessary,” she added.
Elsewhere in the court request, Turner-Smith claims Jackson provided their family with a “high standard of living” during their marriage and pointed out she doesn’t receive as many job offers compared to Jackson, whose career spans decades, and who has historically earned a higher income than her. Jackson is currently starring in ABC’s Doctor Odyssey, which premiered this fall.
“Josh promised to always support me and ensured me that I would not have to worry about financial security for our daughter if we ever separated because he said he understood how difficult life can be as a Black woman and a single mother,” Turner-Smith said in her request. “Now, he is reneging on that promise and using litigation tactics and delay to pressure me into agreeing to a settlement that is neither equitable nor has any legal foundation.”
Another dispute over the ownership of their California property is also referenced in the new filing.
While Jackson claimed that the couple’s former property in Topanga, California is solely owned by him, Turner-Smith alleges she contributed $800,000 to its down payment. Jackson also reportedly asked her to move out from the home at the time of their separation in Sept. 2023.
Since then, Turner-Smith has been living in rental homes in Los Angeles, Vancouver, and London with their daughter.
“I have not been able to maintain the status quo based on my earnings as I make and have always made less than Josh,” said Turner-Smith. “Given my ever-changing work obligations, I am striving to provide a stable environment for our daughter so that she can enjoy the same standard of living with both parents.”
A hearing on her request is set for March 20.
