Republican leadership in the Statehouse have announced committee assignments.

“Our caucus represents part or all of Iowa’s 99 counties, putting us in the best possible position to listen to Iowans and be their voice in the Statehouse,” House Speaker Pat Grassley said in a news release.

Here’s a look at assignments for Southwest Iowa lawmakers:

Sen. Dan Dawson will chair of the Ways and Means Committee. The Council Bluffs Republican also will serve on the Judiciary and Veterans Affairs committees.

Sen. Jason Schultz will chair the Judiciary Committee and vice chair the Workforce Committee. The Schleswig Republican also will serve on the Commerce, State Government, and Ways and Means committees.

Sen. Mark Costello will vice chair the Health and Human Services Committee. The Imogene Republican also will serve on the Agriculture, Appropriations, and Veterans Affairs committees.

Rep. Matt Windschitl of Missouri Valley is the majority leader.

Rep. Brent Siegrist is an assistant majority leader. The Council Bluffs Republican also will serve on the State Government, Transportation, and Ways and Means committees as well as the Education Appropriations Subcommittee.

Rep. David Sieck will vice chair the Federal and Other Funds Appropriations Subcommittee. The Glenwood Republican will serve on the Agriculture, Economic Growth and Technology, and Transportation committees.

The makeup of the Statehouse leadership has taken shape. It includes House Majority Leader Matt Windschitl of Missouri Valley and Senate Ways and Means Chair Dan Dawson of Council Bluffs.
