DES MOINES, Iowa — Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds will visit President-elect Donald Trump Thursday night at Mar-a-Lago.

In a social media post on X, Reynolds said she was “excited” to meet with Trump, along with other Republican governors, at his Palm Beach, Fla. estate.

“I stand ready to help enact his agenda of Making America Safe, Prosperous, and Great Again!” Reynolds wrote.

Mar-a-Lago has become a place where the president-elect has conducted meetings with politicians, business leaders and other famous figures.

It’s not just Republicans who visit with Trump there, as Democratic Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania is set for a visit, according to ABC News.

History between Reynolds and Trump

The relationship between Trump and Reynolds hasn’t been all harmonious.

Reynolds endorsed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ahead of the Iowa Caucuses in the 2024 Republican Primary.

“We need someone who puts this country first and not himself … that leader is Ron DeSantis,” Reynolds said at a November 2023 rally. “And it is why I am so proud to stand here tonight and give him my full support and endorsement for president of United States of America.”

Her support for DeSantis broke the tradition of Iowa governors staying neutral during the caucuses and drew criticism from Trump.

“If and when Kim Reynolds of Iowa endorses Ron DeSanctimonious, who is absolutely dying in the polls both in Iowa and Nationwide, it will be the end of her political career in that MAGA would never support her again, just as MAGA will never support DeSanctimonious again,” Trump wrote in a social media post after reports of her endorsement surfaced.

A few months after DeSantis ended his presidential campaign and hours after former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley suspended her own, Reynolds endorsed Trump in March 2024.

“January 20th can’t come soon enough!” Reynolds concluded in her Thursday post.
