Metuchen’s vibrant restaurant scene has everything from an Indian-inspired hot chicken sandwich joint to a Cajun seafood boil eatery within its less than three-square-miles.
But it doesn’t have a steakhouse − yet.
Duke’s Steakhouse will open at 413 Main St., the former home of Mariachi Restaurant, in March or April.

The upscale BYOB restaurant will serve seafood, steaks aged in-house and pastas in an 80-seat dining room with chandeliers, candlelight, and a lounge with a couches.
It will be co-owned by Dumond and Duke Estime, brothers and co-owners of casual Caribbean restaurant Estime’s Café in Colonia and soon-to-open NaJela Caribbean fusion restaurant in Carteret.
Duke’s Steakhouse will not have the Caribbean influence that the brothers’ and Haitian immigrants’ other restaurants have.
However, this won’t be Chef Duke Estime’s first foray in steak, as he was formerly the chef at Le Malt Royale in Red Bank, which features steak on its menu.
Go: 413 Main St., Metuchen; opening in March or April.
