Being the recipient of a Brit Award is certainly something to add to your CV, but some stars must barely have room to list them all.
Over the years, certain music icons have been triumphant time and time again at the music awards as they’ve stood the test of time and proved they are far from a one-hit-wonder.
But it isn’t just their musical talent they’ll be remembered for either, as four of the most celebrated acts have also been involved in some of the most controversial moments from the ceremony.

Brit-pop bad boys Oasis have a grand total of six Brit awards, earning their first in 1995 with British Breakthrough Act. They went on to further acclaim in 1996 when they won three prizes, Best Group, Album and Video.
After becoming hugely influential, they won the Outstanding Contribution in 2007 but Liam Gallagher went on to make a very memorable display in 2010 when he collected the award for Best British Album for (What’s the Story?) Morning Glory alone and ended up chucking the trophy and the microphone into the audience.
Michael Jackson – 6

Michael Jackson won seven awards at the Brits during his career, including the one-of Artist of a Generation Award in 1996. Off the Wall was triumphant for Best Album in 1981, while he was successful in the Best International Artist in 1984, 1988 and 1889. Mega-hit Thriller picked up the Best International Album in 1984 too and Smooth Criminal scored a win for Best Video for the King of Pop in 1989.
Raye – 6

British singer Raye made Brit Awards history in 2024. The London-born star took home six awards in the same year – two more gongs than previous record holders. The most number of Brits won in one award year was jointly held by Blur, Harry Styles and Adele up until Raye swept the 2024 ceremony at the O2 Arena.
Raye had already broken records with seven nods — the most for an artist in one year — when she triumphed over singer Robbie Williams, R&B star Craig David and virtual band Gorillaz, who had all been given six nods in previous years.
Her total haul on the night was album of the year for My 21st Century Blues, artist of the year, best new artist, best R&B act and song of the year for Escapism featuring 070 Shake. She only lost one gong to London-born singer and actress Dua Lipa for pop act.
Other artists with six Brit awards: Beyoncé, David Bowie, Phil Collins, Harry Styles
Arctic Monkeys – 7

Arctic Monkeys burst into the Brits by winning British Breakthrough Act in 2006 before going on to score Best Group in 2007, 2008 and 2014, picking up Album of the Year in those three years as well.
They’ve given some interesting speeches along the way too, with frontman Alex Turner rounding off his baffling 2014 speech with a mic drop.
One Direction – 7

It’s no surprise that The X Factor’s biggest success story managed to pick up seven awards during their time together. What Makes You Beautiful won Best Single in 2012 while Global Success was theirs in 2013 and 2014.
Their strong suit clearly lay in the Best Video category as they won that accolade in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017. After their split Harry Styles picked up Brits for Best Video in 2018 and Single of the Year in 2021. He now has six Brits to his name alone.
Other artists with seven Brit awards: U2, Prince, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Annie Lennox
Take That – 8

Take That are Brits giants having scored eight awards and 15 nominations during their long career – both with and without Robbie. They’ve triumphed in the Best Single category over the years as they proved victorious in 1993, 1994, 1996, 2007, as well as 2008 where it also snatched the prize for Best Live Performance.
Plus, all the writhing around on that beach paid off for the boys when they won Best Video for Pray in 1994. Lastly, having been nominated twice before, they finally won Best British Group in 2011.
Coldplay – 9

Coldplay have earned themselves nine Brit awards out of a staggering 27 nominations from 2001 all the way to 2020. They’ve won Best Group four times, in 2001, 2003, 2012, 2016 and were in the running for the gong in 2020. Their debut album Parachute was awarded the Best Album prize in 2001 as was A Rush of Blood to the Head in 2003.
Meanwhile, they picked up the gong for Best Single for Speed of Sound in 2006 and Best Live Act in 2013.
Adele – 12

The Someone Like You singer has been awarded 12 Brits over the course of her four albums. She won Critics’ Choice in 2008, Female Solo Artist in 2012 and 2016 before winning Album of the Year with 21, 25 and 30.
Hello scored Best Single in 2016, Oscar-winning song Skyfall earned her Best Single in 2013, and she won the award again in 2022 for Easy On Me. In addition, her worldwide stardom was acknowledged with the Global Success accolade in 2016 and 2017. In 2022’s first gender-neutral Best Artist category, Adele was the winner.
Robbie Williams – 13

Robbie Williams is the most awarded artist at the Brits ever and has received a whopping 13 awards from the Brits as a solo artist. Not including his work in Take That, the Rock DJ singer has racked up three awards each for Best Single and Best Video, four for Best Male in addition to Angels winning Best British Song of 25 Years, one Icon Award and one Outstanding Contribution to Music.
That must be one big trophy cabinet.
