One of Greenville’s best chefs will face off against a world-class culinary artist when Comal 864 owner Dayna Lee-Márquez appears on the “Beat Bobby Flay” show on the Food Network on May 30 at 9 p.m. EST.
She will face Chef Enrique Lozano of El Paso, Texas, in an episode named “Anchors Aweigh.” The winner will then have the chance to face Bobby Flay in a final showdown.
Former NFL safety Eddie Jackson and CNN morning anchor Poppy Harlow will be judges for the two-round competition.
Lee-Márquez, a Texas native, began with a small food truck near the West Greenville area in 2019 and later upgraded her mobile operation to a full-scale brick-and-mortar at 1112 Woodside Ave. Her restaurant offers a taste of her upbringing, as Southwest Texas and Mexican flavors are the core of Lee-Márquez’s culinary creations.
In January 2023, Lee-Márquez was nominated for a James Beard Award as Best Chef: Southeast. The nomination honored her culinary contributions to the food scene in West Greenville, throughout the Upstate and across South Carolina.
