The fifth annual running of the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix will commence later today.
NASCAR drivers will hit the road at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, T.X., which is also used for Formula 1 and MotoGP races at different points of the year. It’s a road course, which differs from NASCAR’s standard oval track; this year, there are five road track races in the NASCAR Cup Series, including today’s outing.
This year is the first year that the race will utilize a shorter NASCAR track layout as opposed to the previous Grand Prix layout. It shortens the race course a bit, from 3.426 miles to 2.356 miles. The race will run for 228 miles total across 95 laps.
