LOS ANGELES — It started to crumble for the Knicks about halfway through the fourth quarter Tuesday night. They’d been well within striking distance for much of the game against the Warriors, even tying the score early in the final period.

But as the clock hit winning time, it quickly became apparent — or frustratingly obvious to every viewer — that taking the ball out of Jalen Brunson’s hands meant the Knicks had no viable options.

So Brunson predictably saw two defenders as soon as he crossed midcourt with 6:10 remaining. He managed to split them and drove into a collapsing paint before dishing it out to OG Anunoby for a corner 3-pointer.
