The new miniseries starring The O.C. star Adam Brody as “Hot Rabbi” Noah Roklov and Veronica Mars star and OG Gossip Girl narrator Kristen Bell as agnostic sex podcaster Joanne is making major rounds among rom-com aficionados all around the world. Spanning 10 quasi-hour-long episodes, Nobody Wants This centers on the two star-crossed lovers’ instant connection as they try to make things work even when the universe — or, well, in this case, religion — tells them they shouldn’t.
Towards the end of the season, things were looking up for Noah and Joanne, but, of course, a last-minute twist made every single watcher manifest a second season, and our prayers were answered. Here’s everything we know so far about Netflix’s Nobody Wants This season 2, collated all below for your reading pleasure. Is Nobody Wants This season 2 happening?
Yes! On October 10, 2024, Netflix greenlit Nobody Wants This season 2 exactly two weeks after the series’ official premiere on September 26, 2024. Judging by viewers’ reaction to Nobody Wants This and critic scores (the series boasts a 93% fresh certification on Rotten Tomatoes), the possibility of a second season seemed strong.
Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria revealed the renewal at the Bloomberg Screentime Conference in Los Angeles that day, along with the news that Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan (who worked together on Girls) are joining the second season as showrunners and executive producers, alongside Nora Silver as a new EP.
“Creating Nobody Wants This will forever be a career highlight for me,” series creator and EP Erin Foster said in a statement. “The incredible cast, crew, producers, and executives all made this into the show it is today, and to experience viewers’ reactions to this series now that it’s out in the world has been more than anything I could have dreamed. I’m so lucky to be able to continue this story and to do it alongside Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, who I’ve been such a fan of since Girls… Justice for healthy relationships being the most romantic!”

Has Nobody Wants This season 2 started filming?

On March 7, 2025, alongside a brand-new photo of Kristen Bell and Adam Brody (seen above), Netflix revealed that Nobody Wants This season 2 has officially began filming, with production now underway in Los Angeles.
Speaking to Deadline, Jackie Tohn recently revealed a similar timeline for filming. “It’s been a whirlwind. It sort of feels like we haven’t stopped since season 1 because we came out and then we were doing press. Then we were sort of thrust right into awards season, which was sort of insane that we were even included in that conversation. And now, we’re starting season 2 already. It’s sort of just going, it’s awesome.”
Previously, Adam Brody revealed the plan was to film season 2 “relatively soon” after the premiere of season 1, with creator Erin Foster doubling down and admitting that “the goal for season 2 is that if you watched season 1 and 2 together, you wouldn’t feel a big difference.” She added: “It should feel like a continuation of the same dynamics, the same feel, the same cadence.”

What is Nobody Wants This season 2 going to be about?
Adam Brody, Kristen Bell, and series cretor and executive producer Erin Foster on set.
ADAM ROSE/NETFLIX
This is where we get really spoiler-heavy, so if you are still not caught up with the first 10 episodes of Nobody Wants This, look away. Final spoiler warning here. Ok, now we can talk.
Season 1 of Nobody Wants This ended with a bit of a cliffhanger after Joanne and her sister and podcast companion Morgan (played by Justine Lupe) crash Noah’s niece’s Bat Mitzvah after learning Noah’s ex had lied to them about keeping in touch.
The NYC-themed Bat Mitzvah was a rollercoaster, to put it bluntly, with Joanne making the choice to convert to Judaism and be with Noah freely, only to backtrack a few minutes after after learning about the responsibility a Rabbi’s wife carries.
Joanne gave Noah an ultimatum to pick, and the last we see of him, he decided to chase her, following a bus on foot to kiss her. While the gesture is romantic, it’s also pretty inconclusive, so we assume Nobody Wants This season 2 would pick up right where we left off or at least shortly after to paint the full picture.
Speaking to IndieWire, series creator Erin Foster, who looked to her own life for inspo to pen the show, already teased how the story could potentially go. “The story in Season 1 unfolds really slowly. And so I think if there is a Season 2 I would want to just kind of pick up where we leave off and continue to take it slow, because I don’t want us to get too far ahead of ourselves. I mean, I want my show to be on the air as long as possible!” Foster said.

Who is in the cast of Nobody Wants This season 2?
Jackie Tohn as Esther, Timothy Simons as Sasha, Kristen Bell as Joanne, and Adam Brody as Noah in episode eight of Nobody Wants This.
ADAM ROSE/NETFLIX
The entire cast is expected to return for Nobody Wants This season 2. That means Adam Brody and Kristen Bell will be reprising their roles. We will also see Justine Lupe as Joanne’s sister Morgan and Timothy Simons as Noah’s brother Sasha, who also have some… let’s call it friendly tension… to resolve in season 2.
Speaking on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, Lupe admitted the tension stays friendly. “For me, I’m like, isn’t there so much more fun to be mined out of us becoming these weird friends than there is to destroying a family? It’s not fun,” she said. On that front, Jackie Tohn, who plays Sasha’s wife Esther, was a recurring guest star for season one but has been bumped to series regular for season 2, according to TVLine.
In other major casting news, Variety reported on Feb. 20, 2025, that Leighton Meester (a.k.a. Gossip Girl’s Blair Waldorf, a.k.a. Adam Brody’s IRL spouse) has joined season 2 of Nobody Wants This.
Meester is joining the cast as a guest star alongside Miles Fowler. Meester will play Abby, and she is Joanne’s middle school nemesis turned Instagram mommy influencer. She will reportedly guest star in one episode. Fowler, on the other hand, will portray Lenny, one of Noah’s Matzah Ballers teammates who gets “set up” with Joanne’s sister Morgan. He is set to guest star in two episodes.

On March 4, 2025, Deadline also reported that Succession and Girls alums Arian Moayed and Alex Karpovsky have joined the cast of Nobody Wants This season 2. Moayed will reportedly take on the role of Dr. Andy, who’s described as “a charming, highly regarded (particularly by himself) psychotherapist.” He is set to be a love interest for Morgan. Karpovsky, on the other hand, joins the show as Big Noah, “an overly confident rabbi at Noah’s temple” who’s poised to be Brody’s new onscreen “work rival.”
