Sasha Schreiber and Liev Schreiber Enjoy Father-Son Night Out (Exclusive)

Sasha Schreiber is growing up before his father Liev Schreiber’s eyes.

On Thursday, March 6, PEOPLE caught up with the Perfect Couple actor, 57, and his 17-year-old son at the Cirque Du Soleil New York City premiere of Luzia.

When asked how it feels to be walking carpets with his eldest, Schreiber admitted it’s an adjustment process.

“It’s strange,” the X-Men star tells PEOPLE. “I felt a little self-conscious walking into the circus with him because, like, it’s the kind of thing you do with your kid.”

Schreiber adds, “He doesn’t feel like my kid anymore. He feels like a man now, so, it’s a whole different thing for us.”

The actor shares two children — son Sasha and daughter Kai, 16 — with ex-girlfriend Naomi Watts and one child — daughter, Hazel Bee, 1 — with his wife, Taylor Neisen.

While speaking to PEOPLE, Schreiber says the key to remaining close with his family despite their busy schedules is having “dinner [together] every night.”

Sasha also joined in on the interview, joking that if his dad were to ever join the circus, his talent would be a “hot dog eater,” to which the Ray Donovan alum agrees.

Schreiber recently gave his son a sweet shoutout at the 2025 Critics Choice Awards in early February after the teen encouraged his father to show up for the annual ceremony. 

“Thank you to my beautiful wife Taylor and my son Sasha for convincing me to come,” he said. “I told them that there’s no way on God’s earth and that company that I would win this award.”

That evening, Schreiber took home the award for best supporting actor in a limited series or movie made for TV for his role in the Netflix drama miniseries, The Perfect Couple.

Though the actor is still getting used to a supportive Sasha attending events with him as an almost 18-year-old, walking carpets with his dad is nothing new to him. 

In June 2023, Sasha was present as Schreiber attended a screening for his National Geographic limited series, A Small Light. 

Sasha has followed his parents into show business. He and Kai voiced characters in Disney’s 2016 adaptation of The Jungle Book.

“Happy Birthday to my darling Sasha- you have a heart of gold. I’m so very proud of you,” Watts, 56, wrote in a July 2024 birthday tribute. “17 years ago you shot into the world with your arms reaching for the sky. You are a force but with the most gentle soul.”

The King Kong actress continued, “I thank my lucky stars that you chose me to be your mum. And I’m so very grateful to have you by my side here. I love you. Keep reaching for the stars. ✨💛.”
