An anarchist has been arrested for allegedly putting a $45,000 bounty on Pam Bondi.
Tyler Maxon Avalos, 29, is accused of offering the reward for the US attorney general “dead or alive (preferably dead)” on TikTok, court documents state.
The FBI claims that Mr Avalos, who uses the TikTok name “Wacko”, included a link to where people could find an “anarchist FAQ book” on the social media site.
Avalos’ username had an anarchist symbol in place of the “A”, the FBI claims.
He was arrested at his home in St Paul, Minnesota, after checks by the FBI linked him to the online post.
According to court documents, the FBI was alerted to the post by a TikTok user in Detroit on Oct 9.
It featured a photo of Ms Bondi with a scope on her forehead and the words: “Wanted: Pam Bondi. Reward: 45,000. Dead or alive (preferably dead)”.
The ad on TikTok allegedly posted by Tyler Maxon Avalos – USDC District of Minnesota
Underneath the image, a user had written: “*cough cough* when they don’t serve us then what?” according to court filings.
Mr Avalos has a long criminal history including a 2022 conviction of stalking. His other convictions include a misdemeanour domestic battery in 2016 and a domestic assault, also in 2016, where he strangled another person.
Avalos was charged with interstate transmission of a threat to injure another person.
Court records do not show him having entered a plea yet.
He was released on his own recognisance after making his first appearance at a court in Minnesota.
Ms Bondi is not the only member of the Trump administration who has faced threats on their life and Donald Trump dodged two assassination attempts during the 2024 presidential election.
Last month a jury found Ryan Routh, 59, guilty of trying to kill the president at his West Palm Beach golf course in September 2024.
Routh faces life in prison when he is sentenced on Dec 18.
Thomas Crooks, 20, was shot dead by law enforcement during his attempted assassination of Mr Trump last July at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
