One of the original Food Network stars is back with a brand-new series and plenty of good eats, as they take on everyday kitchen conundrums.
Alton Brown, who launched his Food Network career with the hit series Good Eats, has returned just in time for Thanksgiving with a brand-new show. Titled Alton Brown Cooks Food, the series offers a practical look at common cooking mistakes while serving up the sharp advice and dry humor fans have always loved.
Now available to stream on YouTube, Brown revisits one of his most beloved topics, how to cook a turkey, and gives his instruction a fresh, modern spin. He said, “Back in 1999, my cohorts and I capped the end of the first season of Good Eats with a one-hour special called ‘Romancing the bird.’ The centerpiece was a recipe for a roast turkey.”
“This included a pre-cook soak in a salt solution or a brine. It was an unusual move for the time, not a lot of brining being done then. But not only can a brine bring extra moisture into a big piece of meat, the salt alters the proteins inside and also, the brine seasons the meat quite nicely,” he explained. “I will show you the changes I have made to the process through the years.”

Brown shared how he now prefers to cook his turkey in the step-by-step manner fans loved from the original series, which was part cooking show, part science experiment. The result was a golden bird, worthy of a Thanksgiving table centerpiece.
Fans celebrate Alton Brown’s comeback to instructional cooking
In the comments section of Brown’s new YouTube channel, fans reacted to his comeback to instructional cooking. Many shared their excitement, calling his return long overdue.
“I don’t think I can adequately describe the enormous grin that welled out of me from seeing the fridge cam again. He’s back like he never left, y’all! Hail to the king,” exclaimed one fan.
“I’m crying right now. Good Eats was my whole childhood. My mom and I used to watch the show and take copious notes, then go cook the dish for dinner. The food science I learned from this show has made me the cook I am today, able to make my own recipes because of what you taught me,” declared a second YouTube viewer.
A third fan wrote, “I’m not exaggerating: this made me emotional. Man it’s so great to get a surprise Alton Brown episode. The science. The food. The humor. Astonished to see this level of production value on YouTube. Alton, you’ve inspired me for years, and this was absolutely spectacular.”
Alton Brown hosted Good Eats on the Food Network from 1999 to 2011. He then helmed Good Eats Reloaded and Good Eats The Return on The Cooking Channel. Brown has hosted Iron Chef: America, The Next Iron Chef, Feasting on Asphalt, Cutthroat Kitchen, and Worst Cooks in America.
He regularly posts cooking content on his official Instagram page. His latest upload was an instructional video on how to cook French fries.
The first episode of Alton Brown Cooks Food was released on YouTube on November 22. It has generated over 1 million views in under 48 hours.
