CBS has shared the first extended trailer for Y: Marshals, the upcoming Yellowstone spin-off led by original series vet Luke Grimes, who will reprise his role as Kayce Dutton. The show is scheduled to make its debut on Sunday, March 1, 2026. on CBS and Paramount+.
“With the Yellowstone Ranch behind him, Dutton joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana,” reads the show’s official synopsis. “Kayce and his teammates – Pete Calvin, Belle Skinner, Andrea Cruz, and Miles Kittle – must balance the high psychological cost of serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence with their duty to their families, which for Kayce includes his son Tate and his confidantes Thomas Rainwater and Mo from the Broken Rock reservation.”

What happens in the Y: Marshals trailer?
The video teases what happens next for Grimes’ Kaycee Dutton, who, at the end of Yellowstone, decided to sell his family’s ranch to Chief Rainwater and the Broken Rock Reservation. Now that he has no massive ranch to manage, he takes on a new direction by joining the U.S. Marshals. The trailer also introduces the viewers to the new characters who will be joining Kaycee in his new journey, portrayed by Logan Marshall-Green, Arielle Kebbel, Ash Santos, Tatanka Means, and Brett Cullen.
Besides Grimes, the spin-off will also feature returning Yellowstone cast members Brecken Merrill as Tate Dutton, Gil Birmingham as Thomas Rainwater, and Mo Brings Plenty as Mo. Noticeably missing from the trailer is Kelsey Asbille’s Monica Dutton, which possibly teases the current status of Kaycee and Monica’s relationship.
Y: Marshals is created and executive-produced by Spencer Hudnut. In addition to leading the cast, Grimes is also serving as an executive producer alongside Taylor Sheridan, David C. Glasser, Art Linson, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, John Linson, and Ron Burkle. It is a production by 101 Studios and MTV Entertainment Studios.
