Barron, the 19-year-old son of President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump, has been living in the White House since transferring to NYU’s D.C. campus for the fall semester
Barron Trump, the 19-year-old son of President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump, is exploring his faith, according to a popular pastor.
In the Thursday, Dec. 4, episode of the Christian-oriented George Janko Show, Pastor Stuart Knechtle claimed he had a 12:30 a.m. call with Barron to discuss the first son’s faith.
“I thought I was hitting him with everything but the kitchen sink when it came to all the evidence for God and Christianity,” said Knechtle, a TikTok-famous pastor at Grace Community Church in Connecticut.
“I thought I was really on. I was pumped,” he added, before seemingly suggesting that it wasn’t enough to fully sway Barron.
Knechtle said one detail that resonated with Barron was a story about the pastor’s friend in Africa who allegedly witnesses thousands of Muslims coming to Christ through dreams and revelations.
“How do you explain that?” Knechtle said he told Barron. According to the pastor — who imitated Barron’s voice and demeanor — the first son replied by saying, “Oh, that’s a very, very interesting point. And you have eyewitness testimony.”
“You know the way his mind works,” Knechtle continued. “That was the only thing that stuck with him.”
He then shared that he believes the 19-year-old New York University sophomore is “very close to putting his faith in Christ.”
“I pray that goes through,” host George Janko responded on the podcast, to which Knechtle said: “Yeah, exactly. That would be huge.”
Knechtle did not disclose when the purported call took place.

Barron is Melania’s only child, and the youngest of five belonging to Donald.
The president was confirmed into the Presbyterian Church as a child, in line with his Scottish mother’s faith, but revealed in 2020 that he now considers himself to be a nondenominational Christian.
Melania, meanwhile, has been described to PEOPLE as “quiet” about her faith but “religious” nonetheless, holding distinction as the only first lady since Jackie Kennedy to identify as Catholic.
Though Barron became more visible in the final months of his father’s 2024 presidential race, he has rarely been seen in public since the inauguration.
Leading into his sophomore year of college, Barron transferred from New York University’s main campus in Manhattan to the university’s Washington, D.C., campus, which is less than a mile from the White House. His father recently told Fox News’ Laura Ingraham during a White House tour that Barron was staying in the private living quarters of the Executive Residence.
PEOPLE contacted the first lady’s office, which handles inquiries about Barron, to ask about Knechtle’s claim.
