In college football, it’s rare that the two top-ranked teams in the nation have the opportunity to face off for a conference title. Today, No. 1 Ohio State and No. 2 Indiana will play in the Big Ten Championship.

The last time No. 1 and No. 2 met in a championship was in 2008-2009, and it marks only the third time since conference championship games were standardized. The defending national champion Ohio State Buckeyes are looking for the first conference championship win since 2020 (the team won the title four seasons in a row, beginning in 2017).

Indiana has two Big Ten titles to their name, with the most recent conference win coming in 1967.

Both teams are entering today’s game with 12-0 records, and are a lock to make the 12-team College Football Playoff with good chances of receiving a first-round bye.
