OWL Bakery, bigger and better
OWL Bakery’s new cake shop and pantry has opened, connected to its North Asheville location, at 197 Charlotte St.
OWL Bakery, or Old World Levain Bakery, now has a dedicated 300-square-foot retail space to sell its cakes, bread and pastries, along with goods from local producers and bottles of wine, available after the café closes at 2 p.m.
Susannah Gebhart, founder and pastry chef, told the Citizen Times that the add-on shop is intended to make treats and products readily available for customers for longer, as it’s open from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday-Sunday.
OWL Bakery is also offering cake slices and desserts, such as pot de creme and tarts, in the display case.

Finest’s deli food comes to Character Study, Bebop
Two West Asheville food and beverage establishments are partnering to keep customers sated while being social.
Finest, a new Italian-American-style deli at 794 Haywood Road, is now fulfilling food orders for bar patrons at Character Study, located across the street at 797 Haywood Road, from 4-8 p.m. Friday-Sunday.
The custom menu features Finest staples, including stuffed cherry peppers, Finest Caesar and the Italian sub, as well as items exclusive to Character Study, such as the roasted and pickled vegetables and cold-cut antipasti boards, Grandma’s Meatballs and chicken parmesan.
Orders may be placed via a smartphone QR code and delivered directly to patrons at the literary-themed cocktail bar by Finest staff.

Finest is also offering a custom snack menu at neighborhood wine retailer, Bebop Bottle Shop, featuring focaccia bread, which is paired with several staple deli sandwiches: prosciutto with house-pulled fresh mozzarella, soppressata and capicola with sharp provolone, and tomato-garlic confit with fresh mozzarella; or toasted focaccia with mozzarella and provolone with a house red sauce.
