Nick Reiner’s Lawyer Alan Jackson Gushed Over Rob Reiner’s ‘A Few Good Men’ Before Director’s Death

Before Alan Jackson became Nick Reiner’s lawyer, the high-profile Texan attorney spoke publicly about his admiration for Rob Reiner’s work.

Jackson, who is representing Nick, 32, after he was arrested and booked on murder charges following the death of his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, praised Rob’s directorial and producing work on A Few Good Men during a July interview for Vanity Fair.

While discussing his professional inspirations with the outlet, Jackson, who confirmed on Tuesday, December 16, that he would defend Nick amid two charges of first-degree murder, said the 1992 film served as a motivation for his career pursuits.

“I’ve seen it so many times and it gives me such a boost,” Jackson told the outlet at the time.

A Few Good Men stars Tom Cruise, Demi Moore, Jack Nicholson, Cuba Gooding Jr., Kevin Bacon and other acclaimed Hollywood actors. It follows the story of a military lawyer who is defending two U.S. Marines charged with killing another Marine.

In addition to directing the Academy Award-nominated film, Rob also served as a producer.

Jackson’s July interview came in the aftermath of the legal victory he saw while representing Karen Read, who was acquitted of murder and manslaughter charges in relation to the death of her Boston police officer boyfriend John O’Keefe in 2022. (Read was convicted of drunk driving but acquitted of the other charges in a June trial.)

Us Weekly reported on Tuesday that Jackson arrived at a Los Angeles court for Nick’s arraignment that day. Nick was arrested on Sunday, December 14, in relation to his parents’ deaths and remains behind bars without bond.

Nick did not appear at the arraignment as a result of him not being “medically cleared” to attend. Jackson addressed the media outside court, telling reporters that Nick may appear for a hearing on Wednesday, December 17.

Jackson noted that he did not have any official charging document from prosecutors, nor was one filed with the court.

According to a report by NBC News, published on Tuesday, Nick attended a party hosted by Conan O’Brien with his parents on Saturday, December 13. The outlet claimed that at one point in the evening, Nick allegedly interrupted a conversation that involved Saturday Night Live alum Bill Hader.

When Hader, 47, allegedly told Nick that the conversation was private, NBC News stated that Nick appeared to stand still and stare before “storming off.”

Us has reached out to Hader’s rep for comment.

An insider also told Us exclusively that Nick was allegedly acting “creepily” at the gathering. At another point during the night, Nick allegedly asked guests “if they were famous” before leaving the party altogether.

Us reported on Sunday that Rob and Michele, who married in 1989, were found dead after suffering stab wounds inside their Brentwood home. The couple shared three children: Nick, son Jake, 34, and daughter Romy, 28. Rob was also father to daughter Tracy Reiner, whom he shared with his late ex, Penny Marshall.
