He was the bright-eyed Florida kid from Okeechobee, and the possibilities were all in front of Evan Neal on the night the Joe Schoen-Brian Daboll Giants made him the seventh-overall pick of the 2022 draft at Caesars Forum in a place called Paradise, Nev.
“I was like, ‘Man, my dreams came true.’ I got to walk across the stage and shake Roger Goodell’s hand, man,” Neal told The Post. “I was like, ‘Wow, this is really the moment that I’ve been working towards my entire life.’
“Just being a bit honest, at the time I thought I was gonna go No. 1, but things don’t always necessarily happen the way that you perceive them, but it’s still a blessing to get drafted six slots after that, so I was just grateful and blessed and a little nervous at the same time,”—he smiled—“… and just grateful for the moment.”
Any regrets?
