The Lakers sure put in an effort to make LeBron James feel special on his 41st birthday.

Just after the team wrapped up a morning workout on Tuesday, head coach JJ Redick brought out a cake in celebration of another trip around the sun for the Los Angeles superstar.

The two-tiered, sweet treat featured several homages to James and his “King” nickname, including a crown and an image of his brand’s logo.

The Lakers head coach then made rookie Adou Thiero hop on the mic to serenade James with a rendition of “Happy Birthday to You.”

James seemed to appreciate the gesture, as he sported a big smile on his face throughout the spectacle, although he did have to tell his teammates to “get off” him when the hugs became excessive.

“Squad celebrated the King’s birthday after practice,” the Lakers wrote in the caption of their Instagram post.

James won’t have a whole lot of time to indulge much further on Tuesday, as the Lakers are slated to play against the Pistons at 10:30 p.m. ET.

James has historically played very well on his birthday — he’s averaged 32.9 points, 7.1 rebounds and 6.9 assists in 10 tilts, according to StatMuse.

The last time he suited up on his cake day was in a 2023 game against the Timberwolves. He poured in 26 points with three boards and six assists on that night.

The Lakers wouldn’t mind a vintage James performance later at Crypto.com Arena, as they’re just 1-3 in their last four contests.
