Texas quarterback Arch Manning underwent offseason foot surgery, the school announced Friday.
The procedure appeared to be minor, ESPN noted, but it will limit him in offseason workouts. He is expected to make a full recovery ahead of the 2026 college football season, which will be his redshirt junior campaign.
The Worldwide Leader reported that it was a “preventative measure to address a previous injury,” but did not further expand on the details of the actual injury or how the setback occurred.
Manning started off his first full season as the Longhorns’ QB1 in a rocky way, not living up to the gaudy expectations that came with his last name.
He did rally for a respectable year by the numbers, but overall, he’s going to be under the microscope again next year ahead of being a potential 2027 NFL Draft entry.
Manning completed 248-of-404 passes this past season, accumulating 3,163 passing yards, 26 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
The New Orleans native also flashed a bit of dual-threat upside, rushing for 399 yards on 92 carries with 10 touchdowns on the ground.
He also caught a four-yard touchdown pass.
Texas went 10-3 in 2025, finishing 12th in the final AP Poll, winning the Citrus Bowl, 41-7, against Michigan.
Texas will begin its 2026 season against Texas State on Sept. 5.
That will be followed by a home game against Ohio State, one of the biggest contests on paper in the first month of the college football season.
