Kim Kardashian has a reason for the continued distance with onetime best friend Larsa Pippen.
“I love Larsa [and] I love her kids,” Kim, 45, told sister Khloé Kardashian on the Wednesday, January 28, episode of her “Khloé in Wonderland” podcast. “I think that was a transition when, I think, she was going through a divorce and Kanye [West] and I were having some issues.”
She continued, “It just, kind of, distanced ourselves and she moved to Miami, but I love her. Our kids go to school together. We’ll always have so many memories and so much love there.”
Larsa, 55, and ex-husband Scottie Pippen split in 2016, five years before their divorce was finalized in 2021. Around the same time, Kim and ex-husband West, 48, also separated. (Larsa and Scottie, 60, share four children, as do Kim and West.)
Following her divorce from Scottie, Larsa relocated from Los Angeles to Miami for the rebooted version of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Miami.
“I watch her on Housewives of Miami,” Khloé, 41, revealed to Kim on Wednesday. “I love Housewives shows. I don’t know if it’s your vibe, but I love all that stuff.”
Larsa and Kim initially remained mum on their falling-out, which first raised eyebrows in 2020 after fans noticed the two women were no longer following one another on social media.
“Kim started actually unfollowing Larsa [at the] end of last year but did so very quietly,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly in 2020. “She unfollowed everyone altogether bringing her followers to zero because there were a lot of random accounts and she wanted to reset it just to her family and childhood friends.”
According to the insider, Kim “wanted to narrow down what was showing up” in her feed for the sake of her mental health.
“There are a lot of people she is friends with who she doesn’t follow on social media,” the source told Us. “They are just in a different place in their lives and are not as close as they used to be but have no ill feelings at all and still stay in touch.”
As for Larsa, she claimed that West came in between the two friends.
“If Kanye feels like him and Kim are better without me, then let them be without me,” Larsa coyly revealed on a 2020 episode of the “Hollywood Raw” podcast. “I’m OK with that. … I will survive.”
Years later, Larsa and Kim were eventually able to mend their fractured friendship.
“I feel like we’re in a really good place. You know, I feel like there was a lot [of] miscommunication at the time,” Larsa told Us in January 2022. “We’ve all apologized to each other. We’re in a really good place.”
She continued, “People have disagreements with their friends all the time, but because of who we are, it’s just so magnified. In reality, it’s like, you know, maybe I could have navigated it different. Someone else could have navigated [it] different. … We’re all living our best lives. We’re all focusing on our families. We’re happy for each other.”
Kim and the Kardashian-Jenners also retained amicable relationships with Larsa’s children.
“I feel like Sophia has a good relationship with Kim,” Larsa said on Jason Lee’s eponymous radio show in July 2025, referring to the Skims mogul’s role as the godparent to her daughter. “They’re loving to her, so I feel like I don’t want to tarnish that. It’s fine.”
