At least four American service members were killed, and another four seriously wounded, when a retaliatory Iranian strike hit their bunker in Kuwait over the weekend, US officials said Monday.
US Central Command initially reported three deaths before confirming that one of the injured Americans had died early Monday.
“The fourth service member, who was seriously wounded during Iran’s initial attacks, eventually succumbed to their injuries,” CENTCOM said in a post on social media.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the men were killed and injured when Iran hit a tactical operations center in Kuwait.
The military said the identities of the fallen would be withheld until 24 hours after their families were notified.
