Bringing Up Bates star Katie Bates is putting in the work to save her marriage after husband Travis Clark‘s cheating scandal.
Bates, 25, took to her Instagram Story on Monday, March 2, to offer an update after seeking professional help, writing, “Just wrapped up a four day therapy intensive. At some point I may share more, but for now I’m just really thankful for the experience and what I’m walking away with.”
The reality star revealed she spent the past few days in “both individual and couples therapy” with Clark, 24.
“It was hard. Emotional. Stretching in ways I didn’t fully expect,” she noted. “But it was also one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. I’m leaving better than I came, and that alone feels like an answered prayer.”
Bates recently revealed she was trying to address her and Clark’s issues. “I’ve wanted to come on here and say something for a while but I honestly haven’t really known how to put words to any of this,” Bates wrote via Instagram last month. “This year didn’t start how I thought it would. It’s been really heavy and emotional in ways I wasn’t prepared for. Some days I feel okay and steady. And other days it’s hard to even leave the house.”
Bates admitted she has struggled to move on from Clark’s infidelity.
“I do want to say thank you though. The love, prayers, and messages I’ve received have meant more than I can explain. I don’t always know how to respond, but please know I see it and I’m grateful,” she continued. “I’m getting ready to attend my first four day therapy intensive. I don’t really feel equipped to handle something like this on my own, so getting help feels important. I know I can’t pour into anything else well if I’m not actually working through this in a healthy way.”
In her lengthy social media post, Bates explained what was motivating her decision to fight for her relationship.
“Being mom to Hailey and Harvey and finding little pieces of normal life again has been so grounding for me. I’m not very good at expressing my emotions, so this probably feels scattered, but I’m trying to lean on God and He has brought me so much comfort,” she added. “I don’t know how much I’ll share as I walk through all of this or what that will look like, but I did want to say thank you for the kindness and grace you’ve shown me. It truly means a lot.”
Bates has offered glimpses into her marriage to Clark since they tied the knot in 2021. The couple then expanded their family with kids Hailey and Harvey in 2023 and 2024, respectively. In January, Bates revealed she suffered a pregnancy loss, which happened the same month that Clark went public with his infidelity.
“This is hard to write, but I owe the truth and I owe an apology. I was unfaithful to my wife. I had an affair and repeatedly broke her trust. There is no excuse for what I did,” he wrote via Instagram in January. “This was my failure and my responsibility alone. I know that words don’t begin to express the damage I caused or the depth of the hurt I’ve brought into her life, but I am truly sorry.”
Clark highlighted the importance of him “taking responsibility” for his mistake.
“I’m sorry for the pain, humiliation and betrayal I caused my wife through my choices,” he added. “I understand that an apology doesn’t repair what I broke and forgiveness is not something I deserve or can ask for.”
He concluded: “I am taking responsibility by getting help and doing the work to change and become a more honest and accountable man, regardless of [the] outcome. I ask for privacy and grace for Katie as she processes this in her own time.”
