Myles Garrett is almost halfway to matching his new NFL single-season sacks record with his speeding violations.
The Browns’ star pass rusher was cited for speeding last month in Wayne County, Ohio, getting clocked at 94 mph in a 70-mph zone for at least his ninth speeding infraction since 2017, according to multiple reports.
The citation noted that the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year had been driving a green 2024 Porsche at 1:35 a.m. on Feb 21 after attending the undefeated Miami (Ohio) men’s basketball team’s 91-77 win over Bowling Green in Oxford, Ohio, per wkyc.com.
The officer who pulled Garrett over noted he had been “kind and cooperative,” according to wkyc.com, and he can appear for a court summons on March 10 or pay a fine estimated to be more than $100.
Garrett, fresh off setting the new single-season sack record with 23, has struggled to obey speeding laws since landing with the Browns in 2017.
The 30-year-old once received tickets for going 120 mph and 105 mph in a 70-mph zone in a 24-hour frame, per wkyc.com, along with a 2020 citation for driving 100 mph in a 65-mph zone.
Arguably, his scariest situation unfolded in 2022, when he and a female passenger suffered injuries in a single-car crash while leaving the Browns’ facility, with his car flipping several times.
He received a citation for “failure to control his motor vehicle,” ESPN reported at the time, and the highway patrol said he had been traveling at an “unsafe speed for the type of roadway.”
This most recent citation is his second since that scary incident, according to Cleveland.com.
Garrett just completed his ninth season in the NFL, all with the Browns, and has spent some of his offseason with Olympian girlfriend Chloe Kim.
He traveled to Italy to watch her in the 2026 Winter Games in the halfpipe, where she earned a silver medal.
This upcoming season will mark his first under new coach Todd Monken.
