PHOENIX — We’re in the middle of mock draft season, which is silly season.

Look, I get it. They are fun to look at. I like doing a few of my own (check out Wednesday’s Post for my latest). But the truth is there is very little actual information in mock drafts. They are mostly guesses, especially early in the process. They can become a little more accurate as we get closer to the draft.

The other part of mock drafts that is silly is that so many of these players who appear as if they are going to be good NFL players will be busts. There is no way to know now who will be and who won’t.

I thought it might be a good reminder of how difficult drafting is to take a look back at who has been selected over the past five years in the draft slots that the Jets have in 2026. It was an interesting exercise, and it shows how tricky this all can be.
