Rory McIlroy left President Donald Trump plenty impressed with his second straight Masters win.

Trump took time to congratulate McIlroy on Truth Social after the Northern Irishman’s dramatic one-stroke win at Augusta on Sunday.

“Congratulations to Rory McIlroy on another Great Championship, The Masters!” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “He performed tremendously under intense pressure, something which few people would be able to even think about doing. With each year, Rory is becoming more and more a LEGEND! I look forward to watching him compete in two weeks at Doral. The quality of Professional Golfers today has become extraordinary, each and every one of them. They should all be proud of the way they played at The Masters this weekend! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”

McIlroy, who finished at 11-under par, held off a final-round charge from Scottie Scheffler to become just the third person to successfully defend their Masters championship, joining Jack Nicholas, Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods, who was the last to do it in 2002.

The Grand Slam winner avoided disaster on 18 after hitting his tie shot behind a tree, managing a bogey to preserve the victory. A birdie putt on 17 from Scheffler nearly dropped, keeping him from a potential playoff after playing 4-under on Sunday.

McIlroy shared a kiss with his wife Erica Stoll and an emotional moment with his daughter Poppy and his parents when it was over.

The Cadillac Championship is set to be held at Trump National Doral in Miami beginning April 30, in which McIlroy is expected to play.

The Masters wasn’t the only sporting event Trump, an avid golfer, was interested in this weekend. The Commander-in-Chief made an appearance at UFC 327 in Miami’s Kaseya Center just after 9 p.m. on Saturday.

He arrived with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, UFC CEO Dana White and his daughter, Tiffany Trump and took in the rest of the fights.
