A young British woman has shared a hilarious yet nightmare beauty fail online after accidentally falling asleep with eyebrow tint slathered over her brows.

In her video, which has amassed over 40 million views, Jess Olivia woke up in shock when she realised the thick black paste had sat on her face all night.

Panicking on camera as she frantically scrubbed her face with micellar water and cotton pads, she gasped, “I’ve just woken up, and I forgot to take my tint off my eyebrows … No, this is not good because I’m going out tonight.”

As she scrubbed away at her forehead to reveal heavily stained, dramatic block brows underneath, her panic quickly turned into sheer desperation, claiming she was going to need something stronger: nail polish remover.

The panic set in

In a follow-up TikTok video, Ms Oliva gave her followers the full backstory on how the blunder actually happened in the first place.

Jess explained that on the night of the incident, she had applied the brow tint around midnight or 1:00am before getting into bed in her pyjamas, but confessed she accidentally fell asleep watching a movie, only to wake up eight hours later the next morning to realise the tint was still fully on her face.

To make matters infinitely worse, Ms Olivia revealed why she was in such an absolute panic in the original video: she was actually going on a date that exact night, which made matters “so much worse”.

To tackle the stubborn stains before her date, she revealed she used acetone nail polish remover, while her mother applied another product to help loosen up the heavy stain.

Many followers flocked to the comments, comparing Ms Olivia to Amanda Bynes and her infamous eyebrows, and also compared her to the iconic Angry Birds character.

Social media reactions

The hilarious mishap has sparked nearly 26,000 comments across TikTok, with users weighing in on her extreme removal routine.

“You ain’t going anywhere tonight,” one person exclaimed.

“Lay low for a while,” a second person wrote.

“I’m overstimulated for you,” a third shared.

“I just know your heart dropped when you woke up from that sleep,” another user commented.

While some people gave their advice on how to remove the stained tint, many beauty brands chimed in and expressed their thoughts on the awful situation.

“You definitely achieved tinted x,” The UK’s leading health and beauty retailer and high-street pharmacy chain, Boots, commented.

“We can feel the panic from here,” Benefit Cosmetics wrote.

“Well, the product works,” UK Cetaphil shared.

“We’re panicked for you,” Garnier commented, which is the brand Ms Olivia used to try to remove the tint with micellar water.

The hidden dangers of leaving eyebrow tint on for a long time

There is quite a lot of information about the harm in leaving chemical dyes or tints on the face past their directed time (usually 5 to 10 minutes).

Prolonged dye and active ingredient exposure in tints can cause painful chemical burns, blistering, severe skin redness, and allergic contact dermatitis.

Brow tint stains both the hair shaft and the top layer of skin, so leaving the product on overnight forces the dye deep into skin cells, making it almost impossible to rinse off gently.

Another issue Ms Olivia faced was that leaving strong chemicals on delicate facial hair for eight hours straight can compromise hair structure, leading to severe brittleness, hair breakage, or temporary brow thinning.

So, if you ever accidentally over-process your brows, experts recommend gently breaking down the stain using an oil-based cleanser, micellar water, or a mild exfoliator over a couple of days rather than harsh chemicals.
