Delonte West being back in the spotlight is not ideal for LeBron James.
West, who has been dealing with homelessness and substance abuse issues since retiring from the NBA in 2012, is arguably best known for rumors about an alleged intimate relationship with James’ mother.
West has denied the rumor over the years. But his response when asked about the situation last night is reinvigorating these rumors once again.
“A gentleman never tells,” West said on Wednesday when asked straight-up whether he slept with LeBron’s mom.
This came when West was part of a pre-fight press conference for Adin Ross’ “BRANDRISK 016” event, which is taking place in Miami, Florida on Friday.
Nobody asked any follow up questions because West didn’t appear keen to elaborate. But him not denying the allegations outright has been enough for his four-word response to go viral on social media.
These rumors started back in 2010, when James and West were still teammates on the Cleveland Cavaliers. They didn’t come from a reliable source but still gained a lot of traction among the social media community.
And they’ve continued to persist nearly 15 years later.
Perhaps West losing his influencer boxing fight against Michael Beasley on Friday will make him, and this rumor, irrelevant once again.
If that’s the case, it’s easy to imagine who LeBron will be rooting for.
