Colorado head football coach Deion Sanders has offered $50,000 to his critics “to not mention his name for a year” according to his close friend, Christopher Neely, aka, “Uncle Neely” — and not one person has accepted.

During “BuffBoys Live” on Monday, Neely, who has served as Sanders’ personal videographer, made the claim while defending the coach after the Buffaloes’ 57-24 loss to Oklahoma State.

Sanders explained that it was a joke when asked about Neely’s comments at a Tuesday press conference.

“They shoot the same arrows at Deion Sanders that they shot at Muhammed Ali,” Neely, wearing a Colorado Buffaloes hat, said during the live stream. “You couldn’t look at Prime and tell he’s tired of this s–t. And then for the most part, the people that attack him wouldn’t be making the money they were making if he wasn’t here to attack — which is why he has told some of them, ‘Hey man, let’s just do this. I’ll give you $50,000 to not mention my name for a year.’ And ain’t nobody took the deal yet.

“Think about that… You love talking about this man so much, and you make so much talking about this man that you turned the deal down. That’s what we’re dealing with.

“So when I hear somebody lying on him I’m going to say something. When I see people giving other coaches the benefit of the doubt but don’t give it to him, I’m going to say something, because it ain’t cute to me… 90 percent of these shows that exist now couldn’t have existed five years ago.”

Sanders, who was confused by the question, looked over at Colorado’s PR to fill him in before he explained that “it was a joke.”

“Oh, no, no, no. I think you misinterpreted that,” Sanders said. “Like, some of y’all sitting in here right now, I would love to give you money and not mention my name and I want to see how far that goes.

“That was a joke. That’s what we were saying, like some people live on your name.”

Colorado is at the bottom of the Big 12 with a 2-5 mark — including an 0-4 conference record.

A spot in the Big 12 Championship Game and the College Football Playoff (CFP) are out of reach for the Buffaloes.

Colorado was up by one in the first half before Oklahoma State took over and scored 34 unanswered points in the second half of Saturday’s game at Boone Pickens Stadium.

Last month, Sanders dismissed several players for what he said was conduct detrimental to the team after a 41-7 loss to Northwestern.

The Buffaloes, who finished with a disappointing 3-9 record in 2025, host Kansas State on Saturday.
