The latest law firm to choose Sixth Avenue for a new Big Apple home is global powerhouse Vedder. The firm signed for 49,000 square feet, the entire 34th floor, at Rockefeller Group’s 1221 Sixth. The long-term deal brings the former McGraw-Hill building’s 2.6 million square feet to 98% leased.

Vedder will move from 1633 Broadway in 2027. The firm was represented by a Savills team including David Goldstein, Joseph Learner and Scott Weiss. The landlord was repped by a Cushman & Wakefield team led by Robert Lowe, Paige Engeldrum, Dan Organ and Pierce Hance, with Rockefeller Group’s Marisa Gadlin.

“Vedder is an outstanding fit that will strengthen the building’s tenant roster for many years to come,” Gadlin said.

In fact, 1221 Sixth is surging on all cylinders. Major office tenant NBC Universal renewed on 200,000 square feet, the Commercial Observer reported earlier this year. Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse is packed night and day after 20 years.

Meanwhile, Rock Group is actively pursuing tenants for the tower’s sunken retail plaza.
