This offseason has been open season on the Yankees.
They were swept by the Rays. They responded by sticking with manager Aaron Boone, largely against their fans’ wishes, and GM Brian Cashman, who has reached into Hal Steinbrenner’s vault for billions of dollars that have led to zero World Series championships after 2009. Their hitting coaches are under fire.
So is the organization itself, with stars of yesterday such as CC Sabathia and Anthony Rizzo criticizing the team’s culture.
More recently, Jorge Posada — a beloved Core Four member and the owner of five rings — added to the fan outrage by saying he doesn’t feel welcome around the team any more. Brewers manager Pat Murphy inadvertently added on.
