Seeing is believing. That makes sense, but not always.

Believing what you see in training camp is risky business. Yes, it is out there on the field — an offense struggling, maybe an offense soaring, perhaps a defense dominating and, so often, a handful of players looking outrageously outstanding.

You see it, but should you believe it?

There is no doubt second-year outside linebacker Abdul Carter and rookie inside linebacker Arvell Reese have looked exceptional in the early stages of Giants camp at The Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs, W. Va. And there is no doubt Malachi Fields, a towering rookie wide receiver, looks as if he should be a contributor right away. But are these performances harbingers of things to come or summer mirages?
